  Congregation had to relocate Memorial...thanks to me

  so, the two local congregations were planning to hold their memorial together at 7:30 at the local community center, but they had to make a last-minute change to their own hall, and i'm pretty sure it was because of me.. let me explain.... at work on monday afternoon, a co-worker returned from her lunchbreak and showed me the memorial invitation that was waiitng in her door when she went home for lunch.

  i noticed the sticker on the back indicated the memorial was being held, not at the local hall, but at the community center.

  from a past (non-jw) event i attended there, i knew they didn't allow alcohol (unless you pay for security guards), so i wrote to the center's coordinator:.

  A Memorial First

  i've been out for a good solid 7 years.. last night was the 2nd memorial in a row i did not attend.. this year's memorial was the 1st time i did not receive an invitation or a visit or a phone call from anyone asking me to attend.. in fact, i didn't even realize it was last night until i got on this website this morning.. it feels great!.

  One call an elder I knew way back. Nice guy... It threw me for a loop to be honest..... He did the whole "good old days" talk made me laugh. Just about begged for me to come back. I told him I was Athiest and in the next sentence he said Jah still loves me

  Left the conversation shaken up cuz I do like his family I just with they would like me even if I knew the JW life is BS

  i have lurked now and then, just decided to join.. my older brother and i were raised by our jw mom, but our dad was a non-practicing catholic.

  so we went to the hall, but were considered "weak" witnesses, since our family still celebrated xmas and birthdays, to appease my dad i suppose.

  as a kid, i loved these holidays.. anyways, when my brother was 17 (i was 13), he spent a few weeks with our cousins in ky, who are all gung-ho j-dubs, and upon his return, he decided he was going to be more "theocratic".

  My Wife's Father Passed Away

  well, the day finally arrived.

  everyone says we were expecting it...but, not really.

  my wife's dad passed away.. he suffered for many years and we were at odds about medications and intrusiveness, but he was just a man in great pain, desperate for relief.

  The FIRST Memorial I’ve missed in 41 years…

  last year, my last jw memorial, i listened to the talk as an outsider would.

  the speaker strung unrelated texts together and for the first time, i saw that the interpretations made no sense.

  afterward, i had a private memorial with homemade unleavened bread and wine with four people--three of whom partook.

  i think i'll go to my favorite`watering hole and help "celebrate" tonight's festivities.. what are you doing this evening?.

  anyone going to the "lord's evening meal"?.

  ya it was an odd conversation.... He calls once or twice a year. Nice family to be honest. I've in the past said the JW fader things.... I'll think about it, good thoughts, thanks for the reminder.... today I said I'll never go back, I'm much happier, I'm athiest.... but his JW wording didn't flinch? cheers to waking up

  we are both have degrees and should have known better.

  made me think, how is the memorial celebrated in different parts of the world?

  do they all fall on this year's march 26?
